1. Procedure for applying for PCC Service

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is issued by the Consulate General, certifying the person’s criminal record with the Indian police.  Kindly ensure that your current passport is valid before applying for PCC.  It may be noted that if passport validity expires before the final issuance of PCC, it will not be possible to issue PCC, hence it is advisable that passport is valid 3-6 months before applying for PCC.  Also, if you have applied for re-issue of passport, then kindly do not apply for PCC until the new passport has been issued. 

All applicants would need to:

1. Visit the https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/ (Passport Seva at Indian Embassies and Consulates). 
2. Complete one-time registration and create a USER ID.
3. Login using the newly created USER ID and fill in the user-friendly application form online at the same portal.
4. Complete an online registration to obtain the application form. Kindly check your details in the form carefully before submitting it. Consulate General will not be responsible for any error in the application form from applicant's side and if the PCC is issued with the details filled by the applicant. 
5. Take a printout of the application.
6. Paste photo and put signatures at the designated place.
7. Send the application printout to Consulate General, along with following documents:

• Coloured copy of first & last pages of current Passport attested by Justice of Peace. 
• Copy of current Valid Spain Visa. 
• One recently taken (within 6 months) passport size photograph pasted on the application. Do not staple/pin the photograph.
• Fee for PCC service is NZ $ 45. (Please attach transaction receipt if fee is paid by online bank transfer).

  2. Police Clearance Certificate for traffic convictions/Taxi License/Passenger endorsement.

You may require a Police Clearance Certificate for Employment, Taxi License, Passenger endorsement etc.  The procedure is same as mentioned in para 1 above except that additionally applicant is required to submit Affidavit against Traffic convictions (sample attached: Form) duly completed and attested by Justice of Peace or Notary

3. Where and how to send the applications

Please submit the printout of application along with requisite documents and proof of prescribed fees, either in-person at Consulate General or may send through courier.
The applicant should use the courier service (with tracking facility) of their choice and are advised to keep the tracking number with them. The Consulate General of India will not accept any responsibility in case the courier is lost/misplaced/damaged or delayed, therefore it is suggested to not to send the application via ordinary post.

4. Fees

Rate is effective from 01 April 2024

• Fee for Police Clearance Certificate is 45 NZD.

Mode of payment:

• At Consulate General’s Counter – payable by Debit Card/Online bank transfer only. We do not accept Cheques/Credit Cards/Money Orders etc.

5. Timings

Applications for all Passport/Consular services can be submitted at the reception counter of Consulate General from 0930 hours to 1230 hours on all working days. Timing for collection of documents is from 1600 hours to 1700 hours on all working days. 

6. Status Enquiry

1. To track online status of your PCC application, please click on the given link  https://portal6.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html and login with your Registration ID and Password which was used to submit your online application form.
2. Please note that no separate acknowledgement email is sent.  Applicant may use the PCC form or the status page (available at link :  https://portal6.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html ), as a proof of applying PCC, if required.
3. All the applicants are advised to track their courier bag to check the delivery date of their documents at CGI Barcelona and wait for 8-10 working days for processing of their application.  If the online status does not change in first 8-10 working days, then only applicant should email to pcc[dot]Barcelona[at]mea[dot]gov[dot]in with the following details: (a) Application/ARN Number, (b) Passport Number, (c) type of service applied for and (d) Courier tracking number along with delivery date of their documents at CGI Barcelona by courier or date of submission in person.
4. No telephonic/e-mail queries regarding receipt or status of applications will be entertained before the time frame limit indicated in below table.

7. Jurisdiction

The Consulate General of India has the jurisdiction over in Spain, Republic of Samoa, Niue, Vanuatu & the Cook Islands. Applicant not residing in these countries must contact their nearest Indian Mission/Embassy.

8. Processing Time for PCC

1. Processing Time for PCC on Indian Passport is 5-6 weeks after receipt of complete application at CGI Barcelona, either by courier or submitted in person over the reception and further subject to the clear police verification report submitted by the police authority concerned in India
2. No telephonic/e-mail queries regarding receipt or status of applications will be entertained before the time frame limit indicated for processing of the applications.
3. Applicants are advised to track online status of their PCC application on the below given link https://portal6.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html and login with their Registration ID and Password which was used to submit the online application form, to understand the status of your PCC application better, please read the information under option number 6. (Status Enquiry) given above under PCC Services.
4. Once the PCC application has been processed at CGI Barcelona, the coordination for completion of physical police verification must be done by the coordinating person in India, who is residing on the given Indian address in application form.

Note 1 :  This page is for PCC for Indian Nationals (holding valid Indian Passport).  

Note 2: For every PCC applicant, fresh police verification will be conducted and PCC will be issued only after receipt of CLEAR police verification report from India. Hence, applicants are requested to apply for PCC well in advance (at least one month) to enable us to provide timely service.

Note 3 : Applicants are requested to keep a copy of the PCC form and the documents sent with the application as police may ask for a copy of these documents during the police verification in India. 

Note 4 : While filling online application form for PCC, it will ask for file number in Passport. Please find the file number mentioned on the back page of your Passport. 

Note 5 : After completing the online application, applicants must take a print out of the application, sign the application and submit the applications personally or send it by courier along with all mandatory documents to the Consulate General of India by registered courier (with tracking facility) at the following address for processing :

Note 6 :  Please send the application printout to Consulate General, along with rquired documents as mentioned in para 1 and 2 above. (if sending by courier):

Note 7: After receiving the reports from concerned authorities  in India, PCC will be E-mailed to the applicants at the e-mail address provided by them in the application form.

Note 8:  Please donot send your original passport for PCC services.  Coloured copy of bio-pages of current Passport attested by Justice of Peace is sufficient.  

Note 9: The Police Verification will conducted at the Indian address printed on your lateset Indian Passport. 

Note 10:  Also, if your personal particulars have changed since the issue of latest passport, please apply for re-issue of passport for incorporating those changes in passport and then apply for PCC. 

Note 11:  In case, the address is changed from the present printed on passport then provide the proof of new address of applicant e.g. Water/Electric/Telephone/Gas connection bill/ Valid Ration card/ Aadhar Card/ Election Commission photo ID/ Bank statement with photograph/Parent’s passport copy.
